African universities can drive talent development at scale
Over the past 20 years, in collaboration with organisations including universities, employers, governments and entrepreneurs, the Mastercard Foundation has been helping build pathways to dignified and fulfilling work.
On 22 September 2026, and in line with its mission, the foundation hosted the inaugural Higher Education Transformation Convening in Accra, Ghana. The event also featured the inaugural Africa Higher Education for Transformation (AHEFT) Prize Recognition and Celebration Ceremony that honours five pioneering universities for driving employment and empowering refugees and under-served youth.
