Advancing Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains through Strengthening Transdisciplinary Skills and Cooperation in East African Doctoral Education – ‘ADVALUE’ addresses the need for qualified doctorates and future academic professionals in agricultural sciences who impact the research and teaching capacities of their Higher Education Institutions and contribute to local and regional achievement of SDG goals with the development of sustainable agricultural value chains.

This training forms part of a series of online workshops, delivered as part of Module 4: Sustainable Agricultural Value Chain Development developed within the ADVALUE project. The pilot training introduces students to contemporary issues in global value chain management, and familiarizes learners with the Value Chain Analysis for Development (VCA4D) methodology across its social, economic, and environmental dimensions, while covering value chain mapping, strategic and supply chain analysis, governance, co‑creation, food safety, consumer behaviour, and the resilience and inclusivity of value chains, including gender equality and intersectionality. Combining theoretical input, interactive discussions, practical exercises, and case studies, the workshops build a solid foundation for data collection and analysis in agricultural value chains.
