By Evaline Acan
Gulu University is pleased to announce the selection of 40 TAGDev 2.0 scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year, following a rigorous application, screening, and validation process.
The scholarships are offered under the Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development (TAGDev 2.0) programme, implemented in partnership with the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and the Mastercard Foundation. The programme aims to expand access to inclusive, transformative higher education and equip young people with the skills to contribute to agricultural transformation and sustainable development.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, Gulu University received 877 applications, comprising 302 female and 575 male applicants. Of these, 827 met the eligibility requirements. Following the screening and validation stages, 137 candidates were validated, and 40 candidates were selected for consideration for the scholarships.
The selection process placed emphasis on inclusion, with participation from refugees and persons with disabilities. Among the 40 candidates selected for consideration, 25 were female and 15 were male. The group also included six (6) refugees and five (5) persons with disabilities, demonstrating the programme’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities for underserved and marginalised groups.
Gulu University and RUFORUM congratulates all the successful awardees on this achievement and wishes them every success in their academic journeys.
